                                    About Enable Joy
I began on the path to becoming a Birth Doula in January of 2007.  I was living in Wilmington, Delaware and went back to school for massage therapy. Through my experience with massage therapy I saw pregnancy in a new light.  The human body is capable of so very much, it is truly awe inspiring.  I focused my massage practice on prenatal massage, mostly because the body is putting so much effort into supporting and nourishing a new life that it's hard to believe it can nourish the owner.  Enable Joy was born in October of 2007.

I came to realize that becoming a birth doula was a natural extension of my massage work.  My goal in massage is the same as my work as a birth doula, make Mom as comfortable and in as much a state of ease as possible.

On the East coast I was blessed have had the opportunity to work with women and their families in a variety of circumstances.  I have been here in Palo Alto since late 2008 and  I look forward to continuing down a rich and diverse path.

I trained through doll's of North America (DONA).  Of the organizations that train and certify doll's, DONA has some of the highest standards.  Certification through DONA requires attending three (3) births and the submission of feedback from the parents, doctors, nurses and/or midwives who attended the birth.

I am also a nationally certified (NCBTMB) Massage Therapist with additional training in Prenatal massage.   This is  particularly helpful during the laboring process.

Post training I have attended births but not yet gathered my paperwork for submission to DONA.  What this means for my clients is that I am still operating as a Doula-in-Training and my fees reflect that.
